Privacy policy

This notice explains how Groove Nation Radio uses information when you listen, join guest chat or use a DJ account. For privacy questions, contact info@groovenationradio.com.

Guest chat

You can read the room without an account. To post, choose a guest name. We use a temporary session identifier, your chosen name, message text, message times, replies and reports to run and moderate the room. Messages and your guest name are visible to other listeners. Please do not post private contact details or sensitive information. Guest sessions expire after six hours and do not create a WordPress user account.

DJ accounts

Approved presenters have individual accounts. We process their username, display name, email address, password hash and login sessions to provide the DJ desk, account recovery and moderation. Passwords are not shown to listeners. Going on air publishes the presenter name in the player. We use this information to provide the account service and protect access.

Security and moderation

We process network addresses to detect excessive requests. The radio application stores a derived security identifier for short-lived rate limits, not the raw address in chat records. The website host may separately keep access and security logs. These safeguards support our legitimate interests in keeping the service available and preventing abuse. Moderators may hide posts or restrict access.

Cookies and your choices

Guest chat and DJ login use necessary session cookies. Guest cookies last up to six hours; WordPress controls DJ login-cookie duration. We also remember your cookie choice on this browser for up to six months. You can accept or reject optional analytics and change your choice at any time using Cookie settings in the footer. Rejecting analytics does not prevent listening or chatting.

Optional analytics

Only after you accept analytics, the radio application records daily totals for page views, play clicks and chat openings. These are aggregate event counts, not individual visitor profiles. We do not send them to an external analytics service. Totals are kept for up to 90 days. Our basis for optional analytics is your consent, which you may withdraw in Cookie settings.

The live stream and service providers

Pressing play connects your browser to our stream provider, Asura Hosting, which receives the connection information needed to deliver audio. Our website hosting and email providers process information needed to operate the site and send DJ password-reset emails. Their locations, security-log retention and any international-transfer arrangements depend on the station’s hosting configuration. Contact us for details.

Retention and your rights

Chat messages and reports are normally removed after 7 days during cleanup. The room shows the latest 100 visible messages. Expired guest sessions and rate-limit records are removed during cleanup. DJ accounts remain until the station removes them; backup copies follow the hosting provider’s retention arrangements. You may ask to access, correct or delete information about you, object to applicable processing or request a restriction, subject to relevant rights and exceptions. Contact us with enough detail to identify your messages or account. You can also raise a concern with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Remembered names and presenter content

If you select Remember my name, this browser stores your chosen guest name for up to 30 days. It does not create an account or keep you signed in. Uncheck the option when joining to remove it. DJs may publish a name, biography, picture and events; this content is visible to visitors until unpublished. Past events remain in the public archive until unpublished by the presenter or station.
